About Kids For Christ
ABOUT KIDS FOR CHRIST
Our mission (which we have accepted) is to partner with parents to help raise the next generation of warriors for Jesus. The Enemy wants our kids NOW! Our goal is to equip kids to take the love of Jesus to their schools and neighborhoods. On any given Sunday, the kids experience worship with our own Kid's Worship Team, and they are taught the Word of God through the use of media, object lessons, illusions, drama, and life stories. Every lesson ends with a life application.
Our activities throughout the year include Nerf Wars, overnighters, kids camp, and a 3-night kid's crusade. These events help our kids to know they are not alone in their Christian walk. We have a mentoring program in which we train our older kids to be leaders in ministry. We also offer discipleship classes for 4th-7th graders called "Knights & Princesses for the King." We participate in missions by giving to BGMC and leading Children's missions trips. We do outreaches in our schools and neighborhoods through Good News Clubs.
By the time kids graduate out of our class, we desire them to have a strong relationship with Jesus based on a firm foundation.
Bahamas Missions Trip - 2011
Bahamas Mission Trip - 2011
A number of years ago, God placed in my heart the desire to take kids on a missions trip. I began asking other children's pastors if they had ever taken kids on a missions trip. I couldn't find any one who had. I continued to pray about it, and wait on God for his timing. Then in 2011, the Assemblies of God's theme for the year was “The Year of the Child.” What a better way to meet this theme than in this 2-fold trip. OUR children ministering to the children in another country! I felt God say “NOW” is the time. I took the idea to the church's missions team and they gave me the go ahead. We began preparing a team to go to the Bahamas. It was awesome because it became a family missions trip. We ended up with 27 people, 16 of them kids ages 7-16. We saw God move mightily as we tackled the task of raising $30,000. We trained the kids for ministry. In the Bahamas, we did exactly that. Our kids focused on other kids and in return were ministered to themselves. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. Will there be another trip? You bet. Michelle Hirschi
